Best Cars for Families by Parents.com

Honda was recognized by Parents.com as having some of the best cars for families. Not once but four times the brand received the honor. The company put Honda on the list for the Honda Accord, Honda HR-V, Honda Passport, and Honda Odyssey. The HR-V also won the award as the Best Value SUV for Families, which added a fifth award to the total.

Most Awarded Brand

Honda now has a total of 69 awards from Parents.com in multiple Best Family Cars categories. The latest awards include:

• Best Family Sedan for Families – 2026 Honda Accord
• Best Compact SUV for Families – 2026 Honda HR-V
• Best Value SUV for Families – 2026 Honda HR-V
• Best Mid-Size 5-Passenger SUV for Families – 2026 Honda Passport
• Best 3-Row Minivan for Families – 2026 Honda Odyssey

The panel of experts at Parents.com spent an entire year testing out more than 150 models. They looked at cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans to determine the winners. They drove the vehicles, looked at space and features for the third row, considered all rear seats, and compared family-friendly amenities and features. These experts also looked at powertrains and standard safety equipment. They compared technology and conveniences. The number of LATCH systems were factored in and experts compared how easy it was to install a car seat.

Parents.com expanded its list of vehicles to include more hybrid and PHEV models. They also added a new category, Best Standard Assist and Safety Features. In total, there were 24 winners in the 2026 awards.

Award-winning Models

Honda models fared well in various categories, such as Best Rear Seat Entertainment with the Honda Odyssey being listed as a runner-up. Honda Pilot was also a runner-up for Best Mid Size 3-Row SUV. As the winner of the minivan category, the Odyssey impressed judges with its Cabin Talk PA system, which is standard. The removable outboard seats were easy to maneuver forward and backward and from side to side, showcasing the functionality that families are looking for.

The Honda Passport beat out several other mid-size SUVs that had been redesigned. The wide rear seat accommodates older kids and adults while technology for this model appeals to families. Luxury features are included on the entry model, giving buyers more for their money. Many of these same qualities are seen in the Honda HR-V, which impressed judges in the compact category. A large cabin and a variety of standard technology made this model stand out. The Honda Passport Trailsport was a runner up in the Best Adventure SUV category, showcasing its ability to offer more fun to families.

The Honda HR-V beat out some big names for Best Value SUV for Families honors. Subaru and Toyota were the runners up in this category. What made the HR-V stand out to judges was its ability to offer big value for a lower price tag. This model doesn’t make families feel like they’re compromising. Even the entry trim is loaded with tech features.
